Aims and Objectives:
The aims and objectives of the Parents’ Association of Glenbrohane N.S. are as follows:

• The Parents’ Association hopes to help all parents feel they have a part to play in the school and a contribution in helping to make their child’s years in the school a positive time in their life. Remember, all parents or guardians of children in Glenbrohane N.S. are automatically part of the Parents’ Association.
• To represent the interests and views of parents of children attending the school. To inform parents of developments in the School.
• To foster cooperation and promote good relationships between parents and the Principal, Teachers and Board of Management.
• To assist with extra curricular activities.
• To help with the provision of extra equipment and teaching aids through fund-raising events.
Background:
Glenbrohane NS PA is in operation for a long number of years and has made an enormous input to the school down through the years. We will continue to develop new ways in which parents can play an active part in school life and improve the school’s facilities for the benefit of all the pupils.

What happens?
At the beginning of each academic year there is an AGM of the Parents’ Association. This is advertised through the text system and School notice-board and through notes via the children’s schoolbags – so look out and come to this if possible. New parents are actively encouraged to join (all parents are automatically members, and new parents to the school are most welcome).
As a member of the association you can contribute to discussions at the AGM, assist in events, organise events, participate in the committee. Your input in whatever way is invaluable. We do not deal with complaints against teachers or parents. Complaints are dealt with through the schools’ complaints procedures

From an individual parent’s perspective, you get to know a lot of people through the P. A., get to know more teachers than those directly involved with your children. Being a member is not just enjoyable, it gives you a reassurance and confidence in the School that is educating your child. By active participation in school activities and events we are sending an important message to the children, teachers , school management and community that we value the education our children receive.
As always we can only undertake the above initiatives with the help and support of you the parents. We are looking for new people to get involved –either by joining the committee or by taking on just one project that interests you, be it coordinating a bag pack , helping with cake sales, helping with the children’s garden or updating the website –whatever time allows you.
For the PA to be truly representative of all parents in the school, we need parents of children from every year starting at junior infants right up to Sixth class to be involved and raise the issues that affect the various age groups.
We are also looking for any parents or guardians with any skills, hobbies or talents that you would like to share!! Please don’t be shy. Come to our next meeting of the school year or simply email glenbrohaneparentsassociation@eircom.net and we will contact you.

Sponsors:

We would like to thank all of the children, parents/guardians, teachers and local businesses that have supported us. Without your help we would not have been able to achieve so much this school year
