Board of Management

Role of board of Management

The Board of Management is charged with the direct governance of the school. It will conduct its business in accordance with the rules of the Department of Education and Science. It shall ensure the ethos of the school as a Catholic school under the trusteeship of the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly is maintained. It shall ensure that all pupils in the school receive an education suitable to their ability in a safe and pleasant atmosphere. The full duties of the Board are outlined in the Rules and Procedures of the Board of Management.

The Board shall meet at least 5 times in the school year.

 At all meetings it will:

  • Be reported to by the Principal on the current school activities.
  • Be reported on the state of all school accounts.
  • Be made aware of any suspensions of pupils since its previous meeting.
  • Discuss the continued development of the school.

  • Constitution of the Board of Management (CPSMA document).
  • DES Circulars.
  • Other Legislation.

 Trustees of the School 

The Archbishop of Cashel and Emly is the trustee of the school. Dr. Clifford carries out his responsibilities in a number of ways:

 (a)               Develop and Train Boards of Management.

(b)               Promote good practices.

(c)               Facilitate Leadership by Principal and Deputy Principals.

(d)              Support positive school development.

(e)               Encourage and promote partnership amongst education partners.

(f)                Promote good financial practices.

(g)               Guarantors of Accounts/Overdraft facilities when required.

(h)               Provide training for Boards of Management.

(i)                 Meet with DES to promote progress in building and renovation projects.

 

Implementation

 Visit Boards of Management.

  1. Set up conferences for principals and deputies.
  2. Give financial package to school for accounts.

School Finances 

The Board of Management shall have overall authority and responsibility for all financial details in the school. The Board shall be advised regularly on accounts other than specific Board of Management accounts on which a report is to be furnished at all board meetings.
